Bill Brant

Bill Brant and his wife Marcia have owned and operated The Gourmet Rodent, Inc. since 1986. In addition to distributing frozen rodents, The Gourmet Rodent produces a number of reptiles such as Colubrid snakes, Crested Geckos and Leopard Geckos. During an average week TGR ships 800 to 900 overnight packages containing frozen rodents, or live reptiles. In 2003 they began another company called The Animal Company. The product line of The Animal Company differs from The Gourmet Rodent in that it is primarily morph Ball Pythons and Brazilian Rainbow Boas. Additional groups of boas and pythons will be added to The Animal Company product line over the next few years.

I have been involved in legislative issues and governmental affairs since 1992. In 2001, I was appointed to the Animal Industry Technical Council, an advisory council to the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture. In 2003 I was elected to the Board of Directors for the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC). We are currently Gold Members of USARK, and will become Platinum members as soon as that mlevel of sponsorship is available.

As with most people in the reptile business/hobby my interest in reptiles started at an early age. I got my first snake in 1952 at the age of seven. I have been keeping reptiles ever since. My strongest interest is in Boas and Pythons. I look forward to contributing to the SYR Board of Advisors.
